The Moki Cherry Project

This garment was inspired by the work of Moki Cherry and the exhibit at The Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia. Cherry’s artwork uses bold colors, surreal imagery, and handcrafted storytelling, which influenced the overall design, color palette, and silhouette of the piece. In my piece, bright satin fabrics in red, blue, orange, and yellow were chosen to reflect the vibrant and expressive energy found in her paintings and textile work. The asymmetrical patchwork construction and flowing skirt panels mimic the organic shapes and layered compositions seen throughout the exhibit.
